Dress Code Reminders

Dress Code Reminders

Please review the high school dress code with your student this week. Every student is responsible for knowing and consistently following the dress code throughout the year. Full details are on page 28 of the Parent/Student Handbook.

A few key reminders:

  • Shirts must have material beyond the shoulder (sleeves required).

  • Midriffs must stay covered. Shirts should sit at the top of the pants or skirt at all times — if a student has to keep tugging their shirt down, it's too short.

  • Shorts and skirts must reach the second knuckle (the one closest to the fingertip) when arms are relaxed at the sides.

  • Hair must be a natural color, including highlights and chunking. Starting Monday, August 24th, students with unnatural hair color will not be able to attend class. Note: This is a change from previous years, when students had a one-week grace period to fix their hair color.

How Violations Are Handled

A student out of dress code will receive a Dress Code Slip from the office, and the incident will be recorded. Students should keep the slip with them for the rest of the day to avoid repeat trips to the office. For repeat violations, students may be asked to change into school-provided clothing, or we'll contact a parent to bring a change of clothes. Students may not drive home to change.

We want every student in class and learning, not sitting in the office over a dress code issue. Thank you for helping your student start each day ready to go.
