As many of you know, our school community recently lost Evan Cole, a tenth-grade student at our high school. Evan’s family has given us permission to share his information and details regarding his memorial service with our school community. Evan’s service will be held this Friday, August 21st, at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Windsor, CO. There will be a viewing from 10:00 to 10:50 a.m., and the memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m. A lunch/reception will follow at the church hall. For those attending the service on Friday, Evan's siblings requested that everyone wear fun, mismatched socks, as it was Evan’s signature style.
Understandably, a large number of students and staff will attend the service to grieve together. In light of this, Windsor Charter Academy's middle school and high school will be closed this Friday, August 21st. The elementary school will remain open and follow its regular school day schedule.
Because of this closure, we are also adjusting our high school testing schedule:
Friday, August 21st: No school for middle and high school (previously scheduled as a high school half-day for testing)
Friday, August 28th: High school testing will take place, and students will be dismissed early at 11:00 a.m.
This is a moment for our Firebird Family to lean on one another and support Evan's family. As we grieve together, please know that our counselors are available to any student who needs support.
