Students are welcome to wear costumes to school on Friday, October 30th! We ask that students follow the guidelines below when choosing a costume.
General Expectations
The regular school dress code still applies, including expectations for length and coverage.
Costumes must be appropriate for all ages and audiences.
Items That Are Not Allowed
Weapons of any kind, real or fake. This includes toy guns, swords, knives, bats, and any prop that resembles a weapon, even when it is part of the costume.
Full-face masks, face coverings, or hoods. Students may carry a mask but may not wear it at any point during the school day. The only exception is students taking part in the Halloween costume contest during ELO, who may wear their masks for the contest.
Full-face makeup. Makeup around the eyes or in one small area of the face is permitted.
Blood, gore, or graphic violence.
Costumes that mock or stereotype any race, ethnicity, culture, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or body type.
References to drugs, alcohol, tobacco, vaping, or sex, including sexually suggestive costumes, words, or images.
If a Costume Does Not Meet the Guidelines
If a costume does not meet these guidelines, we will ask the student to change into regular clothes or call home to arrange a change of clothing. We will hold prohibited props in the main office until the end of the school day, and we will ask students wearing full-face makeup to remove it.
Thank you for helping make October 30th a creative, fun, and safe day for every student!
