Adolescence is a critical period filled with academic pressures, social challenges, and the demands of transitioning into adulthood. As a parent, your role in supporting your teen’s mental and emotional well-being is crucial. Here are a few things you can do to support your child’s mental health:
Create a safe space for your child to talk to you every day, and listen actively.
Encourage healthy habits, such as regular exercise, a balanced diet, and quality sleep.
Help your child build time-management skills and prioritize school over extracurricular activities.
Model healthy coping skills, such as journaling, practicing gratitude, managing conflicts calmly, engaging in faith-based practices, and spending time outdoors.
