Battle of the Books: 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade

Battle of the Books is a team for elementary school students who are passionate about reading. Students work together to explore a curated selection of books, then compete against teams from peer schools to test how well they know the stories, characters, and details. Teams form and begin practice in January, and the season concludes with a final competition in April.

To join the competitive team, students must read any three books from their grade-level list and pass the corresponding AR quizzes before winter break. Because team slots and competition deadlines are fixed, we are unable to make exceptions to this requirement. We encourage students to choose their books early so they have plenty of time to read, enjoy, and prepare!

  • Grade: Battle of the Books is open to 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade students.

  • Reading List:  2026 Battle of the Books Booklists

Please note that our school library has a limited number of books on hand, so students may need to obtain the books on their own. Students can also find the books at a local library. Please reserve your copies at the library early, as many Windsor schools are participating in this competition.
