Firebird Athletic Award Night (FAAN)

On May 6, 2025, the Windsor Charter Academy Firebird Facility gym was filled with school spirit as we celebrated our annual Firebird Athletics Awards Night! This special evening honored the accomplishments, dedication, and growth of our student-athletes throughout the 2024–2025 athletic season.

The program highlighted each of our athletic teams, including boys' soccer, girls' volleyball, boys and girls basketball, cross country, boys' volleyball, girls' soccer, and cheer/spirit. Coaches and athletes were recognized for their hard work and achievements, with several special awards presented during the evening.

The prestigious Coach of the Year award was presented to Shirley Davis, head coach of our cheerleading team, for her outstanding leadership and impact on athletes. Other honors included the Rising Firebird Award and the Firebird Legacy Award, as well as several athletic scholarships presented to deserving seniors.

Looking ahead, exciting announcements were made about future additions to the Firebird Facility. Additionally, Mr. West announced new sports that are in development for future years.

The night also featured two memorable tributes. Coach Keith Dellapina, head coach of the boys’ basketball team, was honored on his retirement after an incredible career record of 87 wins and only 19 losses. A signed game ball from the team’s victory at the state regional competition will be placed in the Firebird Facility trophy case in his honor.

Additionally, senior Kellen B. was celebrated as the first player in school history to score 1,000 career points in basketball. A commemorative game ball marking this milestone will also be displayed, with Kellen keeping the original.

The Firebird Athletics Awards Night was a memorable reflection on the season’s successes and the bright future of Windsor Charter Academy athletics!
