Counselor's Corner: What Helps Me?

This month’s Sources of Strength theme is “What Helps Me?”—a reminder to pause, reflect, and recognize the supports and strategies that help us through life’s challenges.

Everyone experiences emotions like anger, anxiety, or sadness at times. These are not negative emotions—they are human emotions, and they’re a natural part of life. What matters most is how we respond when those feelings become overwhelming.

Sources of Strength highlights key areas of support—such as trusted adults, positive friends, healthy activities, mental health, generosity, spirituality, and family—that can help restore balance during difficult moments. By identifying which strengths help us personally, we build resilience and learn healthy ways to cope.

This month, students are encouraged to reflect on the question: What helps me when things feel hard? Knowing your strengths—and using them—can make a powerful difference.
