Windsor Charter Academy's Executive Board Election is just a few weeks away! As a charter school, our Board members serve as advocates for parents, staff, and students and have an important role in governing our school. This year, four candidates are running for two Executive Board positions. The term for each position is three years.

Below is a list of our candidates, including their applicant questionnaires, biographies, and campaign speeches. Our goal is for parents to be well-informed about each candidate’s qualifications and vision for our school.
Doug Elliott
Doug Elliott is a parent of a WCA high school student. He currently serves as the Director of Education Grants at The Weld Trust, a charitable foundation serving Weld County. Doug also worked at the Daniels Fund for over 20 years and has been involved in school choice and the charter school movement in Colorado.

Trent Leisy
Trent Leisy regularly volunteers at the WCA Elementary School, serves as a Bird Watcher, and attends WCA Board Meetings. He also served on the Weld RE-4 School District Board from 2005 to 2009. He is the owner and operator of multiple businesses, including Northern Colorado Seeds, FyreFox Media LLC, Leisy Properties LLC, and LT Leisy Farms LLC.

Jenny Ojala
Jenny Ojala is a current Executive Board Member at Windsor Charter Academy and has served since 2016. She is a parent of a WCA middle school and high school student. Jenny works as a project manager in the construction industry and has a background in law enforcement.

Matt Powell
Matt Powell is a current Executive Board Member at Windsor Charter Academy and has served in that capacity for one year. Matt and his wife have two children at the elementary school. Matt is the owner of Critical Facilities Energy and serves as an adjunct professor for the Department of Construction Management at Colorado State University.

Voting Process for Executive Board Elections
Online Voting
Parents/guardians will receive an email with a unique link to vote on Monday, April 21st, at 3:00 p.m. Please do not forward this email. Parents/guardians will only be allowed to vote once from their personal link. Online voting will close on Wednesday, April 23rd, at 3:00 p.m.
Our secure online election will be processed through SurveyMonkey. The unique voting link will be sent to parents/guardians who are listed in Infinite Campus and have a valid email address on file. Parent/guardian email addresses must be updated in Infinite Campus by noon on Thursday, April 10th, in order to receive an email with a unique link to vote. Each parent/guardian needs to have a separate Infinite Campus account with a separate email address in order to receive a unique voting link. To update your contact information in Infinite Campus, please click here. The parent email list pulled on this date will be the list that will be used to send voting links.
Once the election begins, if you do not receive an email with a link to vote, please follow these steps:

In-Person Voting
If a parent/guardian chooses to vote in person, they may cast their paper ballot at the front office of our elementary, middle, or high school. The in-person voting window will be from April 14th through April 23rd.
