Each week, our teachers nominate students to receive a Friday Firebird Award. This award is given to students who set a wonderful example by demonstrating The Eight Keys of Excellence!
Santiago M., a 6th grader, was recognized as a Firebird Award winner! Mrs. Unruh shared, "Santiago demonstrates The Eight Keys of Excellence during PE by being inclusive to all students. He is willing to explain the rules of the game to others and consistently demonstrates classroom expectations. He is willing to work with any students at their level with a smile. Great job, Santiago!"
Abel D., a 6th grader, was recognized as a Firebird Award winner! Mrs. Unruh shared, "Abel stepped into the leadership role within the class. He takes the time to help those who are struggling to understand the drills or the game. I truly appreciate his positive and inclusive attitude in class. Way to go, Abel!"
Major B., a 7th grader, was recognized as a Firebird Award winner! Mrs. Unruh shared, "Beckham demonstrates The 8 Keys of Excellence during PE by being inclusive to all students, asking others to join in, and ensuring that all students are able to play the game. He is also able to take ‘Ownership’ in a game setting. He always maintains a positive, competitive attitude. Awesome job, Beckham!”
Annastyn E., a 7th grader, was recognized as a Firebird Award winner! Ms. Ellis shared, "Annastyn embodies the spirit of middle school PE. She is focused, eager to play, and encourages those around her to rise above expectations. Her willingness to guide others toward success—both in strategy and gameplay—is truly appreciated. Annastyn reaches out to classmates who may need a bit of extra encouragement and celebrates the small wins that contribute to her team’s success. She brings a smile to class each day and is a valued member of her PE community. Thank you, Annastyn, for rising above and shining in the gym!"
Wyatt P., an 8th grader, was recognized as a Firebird Award winner! Ms. Ellis shared, "Wyatt shows what true character looks like! He leads with ‘Integrity,’ boosts his teammates, inspires teammates to hold themselves to a high standard of character, and makes sure everyone is giving their best. Because of his leadership and honesty, the whole class becomes stronger. Thank you, Wyatt, for raising the bar and inspiring others!"
Rocket G., an 8th grader, was recognized as a Firebird Award winner! Ms. Ellis shared, "Rocket has truly risen to the occasion as a student committed to learning, having fun, and demonstrating The 8 Keys of Excellence. He constantly looks for ways to strategize during games and encourages others to join in. Even when he’s out of the game, he continues to model outstanding behavior. Rocket is often seen supporting and including others when they need a bit of friendly encouragement. Thank you, Rocket, for rising above and shining in the gym!"
