It’s hard to believe the school year is already nearing the halfway mark! As we move through the coming weeks, this is a great time to pause and reflect on how we can support our students’ overall wellness — not only academically, but also socially and emotionally. Middle school is a time of big transitions, new responsibilities, and evolving friendships, all of which can impact a student’s sense of balance and well-being.
At school, we focus on helping students develop healthy habits that support both their mental and emotional well-being. This includes learning to manage stress, practicing gratitude, staying active, getting enough rest, and finding positive ways to connect with others. Families can help reinforce these habits at home by:
Encouraging regular routines for sleep, meals, and screen time.
Talking openly about feelings and normalizing the ups and downs of adolescence.
Celebrating effort and progress rather than perfection.
Modeling healthy coping skills like mindfulness, exercise, and taking short breaks to reset.
If you ever notice your child struggling with stress, motivation, or friendships, please know you’re not alone. Our team is here to support both students and families. We are always happy to check in with your child, connect them with helpful resources, or simply provide a listening ear. Together, we can help our students continue to thrive — academically, emotionally, and socially.
Wellness Week
We are excited to share that Sources of Strength is planning a fun Wellness Week beginning November 17th! Be sure to ask your child about the activities taking place throughout the week. On Wednesday, November 19th, students are encouraged to wear green or white (colors representing mental health) along with school-appropriate jeans. On Friday, November 21st, it will be a free jeans day for all students! We look forward to celebrating wellness and practicing positive habits as a school community.
