Counselor Corner: Bullying Prevention Program

We are thrilled to have students back in the building and to be welcoming our new Firebirds through our “lunch bunch” gatherings! These informal lunch sessions have been a wonderful way for students to build connections with their peers, get to know Mrs. Boyes, and ask questions as they settle into the school year.

This month, students will also begin working through lessons from the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program, which is being implemented in grades K-12 at Windsor Charter Academy. Throughout the year, topics will include: understanding what bullying is (and what it isn’t), identifying trusted adults, practicing empathy, having the courage to do the right thing, communicating effectively, and addressing gossip and rumors, among others. We are excited to bring this important program to our students! If you would like more details about the specific lessons students will be learning, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Mrs. Boyes directly.

In addition, students recently participated in a Safe2Tell Assembly, where they learned about using an anonymous “See Something, Say Something” form to report concerns. This form is sent directly to Mr. Fitzpatrick and Mrs. Boyes, and it has been shared with students during their advisory classes. This form is also available above to parents/guardians.

Lastly, if your family would benefit from weekend food assistance, please take a moment to complete this quick form. This supportive program will begin in the coming weeks.
