Our high school students who were recognized as being on the honor roll for the first semester have earned a free dress day on Tuesday, February 11th! Students may wear ripped jeans, leggings, sweatpants, and hats to celebrate their hard work!

Last Friday, our 8th-11th grade students participated in our student council elections. Each candidate gave a short speech detailing their goals if elected to student council.

Our school is committed to the safety of all of our students and families. The WCA Safety Committee is hosting a Cyber Security and Sexting Parent Information Night on Wednesday, February 26th from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. in room 184 at our high school.

Our HS VEX Robotics team were awarded two tournament championship trophies over the last two weeks! At the Colorado Early College Fort Collins VEX Robotics tournament, our teams “Phynix” and “Only Temporary” both made it to the finals. Our third team “Controlled Chaos” was knocked out by Only Temporary in the semi-finals by 11 points.

The Graduation Department at Aims Community College is starting to go through WCA student graduation applications. Please make sure you are checking your Aims emails for this important notification.

This week our high school students participated in a Sources of Strength campaign called “I am Connected.” The goal of this campaign was to encourage students to normalize help-seeking behaviors.

Starting with the Class of 2021, the state of Colorado is implementing new graduation guidelines. In addition to WCA’s credit requirements, all students must also meet one minimum benchmark in English and math using a variety of measures.

All parents are invited to join us for parent-teacher conferences on Wednesday, February 12th from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in each teacher’s classroom. No appointment is required. If you would like to meet with your student’s teacher, please visit their classroom!

Students who plan to register for MAT 121 or CHE 101 next year will need to take the math Accuplacer exam on February 4th from 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Students who plan to register for ENG 121 next year will need to take the English Accuplacer exam on February 5th from 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Attention parents of seniors! All of our seniors will be showcasing their senior capstone presentations on Tuesday, February 4th starting at 5:00 p.m. Join us for a special evening to celebrate the accomplishments of our seniors and to hear about their post-secondary plans.

If your student is taking an Aims Community College class (online or at the Aims campus) for semester two, please make sure they have logged into their Aims account and checked D2L.  Classes started this week. 

It’s time to start registering for our next school year! During our ICAP or AVID classes, students will receive instructions and paperwork for the 2020-21 high school course registration process. Parents must sign the course registration form and the Aims Community College paperwork

Our School Safety Committee is hosting an ALICE Parent Information Night on Wednesday, January 22nd from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. in our high school gymnasium. If you are interested in attending, please register here.

If your student took a CE Choice class last semester at the Aims Community College campus or online, please remember that we will reimburse students up to $100 for their textbook.

We are excited to announce that we will be offering SAT math prep sessions for all 11th graders. Sessions will be held in the HS commons from 3:15 p.m. - 4:15 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays from January 13th to April 1st.

The University of Colorado Denver will host the state’s best and brightest high schoolers this summer and WCA students are encouraged to apply!
