Battle of the Books fosters a culture of reading at our school! Battle of the Books is a fun Family Feud-style competition in which teams of students compete against peer schools to test their knowledge of a selection of books. We will read and practice throughout the year and compete in a final competition in the spring.

Homecoming Week is September 30th through October 4th! Each year, our high school students invite all Firebirds, K-12, to participate in our school color wars. All grade levels have a school color that will stay with them through graduation.

WCA’s Elementary School Parent-Teacher Club (PTC) will be hosting its first Health & Wellness Night! The event will be held on Friday, October 18th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the elementary school.

Throughout the year, our Elementary School Parent-Teacher Club (PTC) works diligently to put together fun family events and quarterly Teacher Appreciation Lunches for all of our hard-working teachers and staff. These events are made possible with the help of all our amazing parents!

Vision and Hearing Screenings will be conducted on Monday, September 30th, for grades K, 1, 2, 3, and 5. In order to accurately test your child's vision, please make sure they have their glasses with them at school on this upcoming date.

Bird Watchers is a safety program initiated by our school to keep a watchful eye over our Firebirds. Parents are invited to volunteer to be a Bird Watcher for our school. Bird Watchers are positive role models who provide an extra layer of support and security.

This is a friendly reminder that our office hours are from 7:35 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We ask that all families pick up their students on time.  We would also like to remind parents that the front office is not a pick-up location.

Picture Retake Day for elementary school students will be held on Tuesday, October 15th, from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. Please review the Dress Code Policy for information on formal dress uniforms for Picture Day.

Students are invited to wear neon or white colored clothes and accessories to school on their Innovation Lab Day (the week of September 13th through 19th). Students will participate in an epic educational experience with various activities in the dimmed, blacklight-filled room!

We ask that students arrive no earlier than 7:30 a.m. Also, to get to their classroom by 8:00 a.m., students who eat breakfast should arrive at the cafeteria by 7:50 a.m.

We are excited to introduce our families to our office staff this year! Families can learn a little bit more about each of our staff members below. Stop by our front office and say hello!

WCA partners with the Weld County Food Bank to provide a limited number of food items to students in need over the weekend. Students will receive items discreetly in their backpacks on Fridays.

Our Parent Information Night will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. This event is for parents only.  Each year, we invite our parents to come and learn more about our curriculum, classroom procedures, expectations, and volunteer opportunities in an adult-only setting.

We appreciate our parents for helping to adhere to the student dress code and helping students dress for success. Per policy, we ask that shorts, skirts, and dresses be of modest length and that jeans are free of holes and fraying.

Thank you to all of our families for your patience over the last week with our pick-up and drop-off processes! 

Our students are enjoying their Sources of Strength lessons in our classrooms! Our counseling team has developed a short video on “Speaking with Good Purpose” and “Failure Leads to Success” - two of The Eight Keys of Excellence.

Timberline Gymnastics, across the street from WCA elementary school, is offering benefits to our students.

Is your 5th grader interested in joining the MS Cross Country team? If so, our coaches will offer optional practices every Monday and Wednesday morning from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. at the middle school starting on June 17th!

We are gearing up for next year’s sports season! If you have an athlete who would like to participate in middle or high school athletics next year, please complete our Athletics Registration Form.
