Windsor Charter Academy Farm-to-School Program
OUR MISSION
The Windsor Charter Academy Farm-to-School Program provides students with access to delicious, locally sourced food. We also promote health and wellness and provide nutritional education!
SERVING OUR STUDENTS & COMMUNITY
Over 85% of our school meals are made from scratch each day.
Over 900 students enjoy lunch at our school daily, and over 250 students enjoy breakfast.
Most ingredients are sourced locally and have the Colorado Proud seal.
Many of our vegetables and herbs come from our school’s organic garden.
WAYS TO GET INVOLVED
If you are interested in joining our farm-to-school community, we welcome all volunteers! Please contact Jeannine Davison, Director of Food Services, for more information on how to volunteer.
In addition, if you are interested in making a donation to our program, all proceeds will be used to purchase seeds and farm equipment, and if we raise enough funds, maybe even a small greenhouse!
Organic Garden
Each year, Windsor Charter Academy harvests hundreds of pounds of produce from our organic garden. We grow cherry tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, peppers, onions, and more! Fresh vegetables are prepared by our Food Service Department and are used to make our delicious meals. We have signs at the salad bar to highlight the fruits and veggies grown in our school’s garden. Be sure to ask your students if they have tried any garden-fresh produce!
“They provide enough food to be full so you can play!”
“I love the frozen slushies after PE...they are delicious!”
“I love that there are so many different options!”
