WCA has a vibrant music program!
Beginning in kindergarten, WCA students are exposed to a wide variety of music and instruments. As they progress through their education, they are able to choose from a variety of classes including choir, band, jazz band, drama and orchestra.
Elementary band is an opportunity for 4th and 5th grade students to learn to play an instrument in addition to their regular music classes. Band rehearsals will occur once a week on Wednesdays, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. However, our first few meetings have to follow a different schedule due to prior commitments.
Students participating in band should plan on supplying their own instrument. The main instruments taught in band include: flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, saxophone, French horn, oboe, bassoon, electric bass, percussion and xylophone.
Here is our 2017-2018 school year schedule:
- Instrument try-out and getting to know you (parents welcome), Wednesday, September 7th from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.--music room
- First meeting on Monday, September 12th from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.--music room
- Meetings on Wednesdays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. starting September 21, 2018--music room
